      <description>Category Manager - Utilities - Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire Position:  Category Manager   Utilities Location:  Hertfordshire Duration:  9 month fixed term contract (maternity cover) Rate:   &#xA3;300.00 per day (neg) The Role Our client provides water and wastewater management services throughout the UK and Ireland and is part of the world&#x27;s leading water company. They are seeking to recruit a Category Manager for their network operations, repair and maintenance team.   You will develop, implement and maintain strategies which continuously improve procurement and supply chain effectiveness and generate value   You will effectively forecast, plan and award contracts that deliver real value within the Category   Monitor contract performance and report on progress, identify and deliver potential cost saving initiatives   Identify and challenge practices and procedures, both internally and within the supply chain, that are wasteful or inhibit value   Forecast and manage workload   Stakeholder management   Effective project delivery through a combination of excellent communication and leadership skills, through team work, coaching, development, and conflict management Skills Experience of working within the Utility &#x26; Plant Maintenance and General Engineering marketplace.  Particular emphasis on the set-up and management of complex terms and conditions with network operations repair and maintenance sub-contractors Expert in technical procurement skills including strategic sourcing, negotiation and contract law Experience of negotiating and/or managing high-value, complex technical services contracts Ability to build and manage relationships effectively at all levels within client and supplier organizations Strong commercial acumen and understanding of business needs Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills with a confident and compelling presentation style Membership of CIPS or other professional association desirable Location The role will be located from Hatfield in Hertfordshire but approximately 25-50% travel may be required to other locations in the UK.
